Christian Leadership – A Servant’s Heart

In his book Spiritual Leadership, J. Oswald Sanders defined leadership very simply.  He said, “Leadership is influence.”  If you are a Christian woman, you are called to influence others.

Jesus said, You are the salt of the earth…You are the light that gives light to the world…You should be a light for other people.  Live so that they will see the good things you do and will praise your Father in heaven.”

-- Matthew 5:13-16 (NCV)

“But among you it will be different.  Those who are the greatest among you should take the lowest rank, and the leader should be like a servant.”  Luke 22:26 (NLT)

-- Luke 22:26 (NLT)

Jesus teaches we are to lead by serving.  Servanthood is leadership.  Whatever your spiritual gifts, talents, and natural abilities, you are meant to use them to influence others – with a servant’s heart.  A Leadership Coach provides guidance, encouragement, support, and accountability as you reach your potential as an influencer for Christ.

You may have the spiritual gift of leadership and already be involved in leadership roles – professionally and/or in ministry.  Leadership Coaching guides you into greater commitment, confidence, and competence in your leadership roles.

Multiple leadership facets, applications, and opportunities are everywhere - in all aspects of life. On this website, I give brief examples of that in Ministry Life, Professional Life, Home Life, and Soul Care. Learn to lead, from where you are, in a more authentic and balanced way!

Leadership Coaching for Christian Women, with Margot Wurst, provides a safe, loving, and supportive opportunity for you to take your next steps in Christian leadership!

Ministry Life

It is most likely that your ministry is – or could be – your destiny.  A Biblical definition of destiny is:  the reason why God created you.  A personal definition of destiny is:  God’s will for your life accomplished when you give Him full access.

“I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”

-- Exodus 9:16 (NIV)

You may already be involved in your own unique ministry and desire guidance and accountability in a particular aspect of your ministry.  Perhaps you are sensing God’s call – yet need someone to partner with in gaining clarity on your unique ministry.

The potential applications of Leadership Coaching techniques in your Ministry Life are really limitless!

Home Life

Christian leadership is influencing others with a servant’s heart.  There are many ways you can do this in your home life.  There are, also, different points of view on this.  If you have a need/desire to talk through your beliefs, opinions, hopes, and frustrations about how to be an effective leader at home, Leadership Coaching is for you!

If you are married, perhaps you share some roles with your spouse.  Maybe you’d like to share some roles with your spouse.  This is a way of using your own spiritual gifts at home.

Exercising the virtue of self-sacrifice - putting the needs of your spouse above your own – is a way of leading.  Honesty, authenticity, maturity, responsibility - all of these are necessary for a godly marriage.  Are you modeling these values at home?

Soul Care

Each of us has personal responsibility
for our own life.

In his book “Leadership Coaching”, Tony Stoltzfus articulates a very important coaching principle.  It is, “We have the ability to steward responsibly the life that God has entrusted to us.”

Did you catch that?  We have the ability to steward responsibly our own lives!  Having the ability is one thing.  Actually putting that ability into practice is, sometimes, another matter!

This is an aspect of life where we can employ leadership skills in coaching ourselves!
